Requirements

This course is designed for:

● Employed hairdressers seeking CPD upskilling
● Junior stylists building technical cutting confidence
● Experienced stylists returning to short hair cutting
● Professionals wishing to expand their short-hair client base

It is not suitable for beginners. Participants must bring their own cutting kit, including scissors, thinning scissors, razor, combs, clips, brushes and a hairdryer. A model is required for the practical element of the training.

Course Overview

Mastering Short Cuts is an intensive CPD upskilling programme designed specifically for working hair professionals seeking to refine precision cutting skills in short hair. The course addresses a recognised industry need for structured short-hair training, focusing on modern commercial salon techniques, structure, graduation, layering, and personalised finishing.

This programme supports employed stylists in expanding their technical confidence, increasing client retention, and strengthening commercial viability within salon environments. It is practical, demonstration-led, and commercially relevant.

Upon successful completion, learners receive an AB Academy Certificate of Completion, recognising structured CPD engagement.

• Fringe design and integration
• Texturising techniques (scissors and razor where appropriate)
• Commercial vs editorial short cuts
• Consultation strategies for short hair clients
• Managing expectations and avoiding common technical errors

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  Learners are encouraged to photograph their completed model work to support professional portfolio development and CV enhancement.

Additional Information:

All products and materials are provided on the day. Training is delivered over 6.5 hours with continuous practical assessment and feedback. There is no written exam.

Learners will receive an AB Academy Certificate of Completion following the course. 

Certification:

Participants will receive an AB Hair and Beauty Academy Certificate of Completion, recognising structured CPD upskilling. Assessment is practical and continuous throughout the day, with no written exam.
