A free training course made available through the Skills Connect Programme

Duration

The course runs over 21 weeks (September – March).

  • Practical training: Every Tuesday, 10.00am – 4.00pm (on-site)
  • Online learning (Zoom): Every Wednesday, 10.30am – 1.30pm

In addition to scheduled classes, learners must complete:

  • 8–10 hours per week home study (compulsory) via Moodle (LMS)
  • Homework, case studies, and coursework will be assigned, monitored, and corrected

Time spent on Moodle and coursework is tracked by the Head of Education. Learners who fall behind may not be eligible to sit exams if required standards are not met.

November: 3/4, 10/11, 17/18, 24/25

January: 5/6, 12/13, 19/20, 26/27

February: 2/3, 9/10,16/17,23/24

Any other relevant information learners should know :
90% attendance is required, should this not be completed it will be followed up immediately which may impact on payments through social welfare and the overall results that may be achieved upon completion of the course exams. This course is open to both male and female participants, and you may be required to work with individuals of all genders. We ask that you respect your tutor and fellow classmates, fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment. Any behavior that goes against this principle may result in removal from the course.

Requirements

  • As all classes, theory, exams and classes are conducted in English, Delegates will require a good command and understanding of English.
  • As this course is blended learning, delegates must have a laptop or access to a laptop as well as a good wifi connection for the zoom classes each week.
  • A keen interest in working within a Beauty/Spa/Hotel environment
  • A determination and dedication to attend each week as 90% attendance is required to complete the necessary hours needed.
  • This programme includes an additional work placement of 10 days’ work experience in a salon or spa.

Materials
A uniform, notes, folder and a basic kit will be provided. The full selection of products will remain in the school. 

Course Overview:
Upon completion of this course and when combined with the work experience gained during the course, each delegate will be capable of working in a beauty salon, spa or hotel as a beauty / massage therapist,  starting in a junior position.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Offer a full facial consultation, facial treatment, and facial massage
  • Offer eye treatments to include lash and brow, shaping, waxing and tinting
  • Offer a full body Massage treatment
  • Offer both manicure & pedicure services
  • Understand the health and safety measure required to work in safe and healthy work environment.
  • Have an understanding of some of the mental health challenges that they may meet working with colleagues and with clients

Project Work & Exams:
Each of the practical modules requires case studies to be completed to display that practice and experience is being gained throughout the course

Qualifications Awarded on completion

  • ITEC Level 2 Certificate in Skincare & Eye Treatments
  • ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Massage
  • ITEC Level 2 Certificate in Manicure & Pedicure Treatments
  • ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology
