Course Overview:

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique designed to mimic the natural movement of the lymphatic system. This treatment supports immune function, reduces pain and oedema, and improves overall skin health and appearance.

It is particularly beneficial for clients experiencing conditions such as fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, and fluid retention, and is deeply relaxing—making it ideal for those with stress and anxiety.

LDM can also be integrated with other therapies such as sports massage and reflexology, enhancing overall treatment outcomes.

Course content includes :

• Anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system
• Location of major lymph nodes
• Full Body routine, including head and face
• Formation, composition, and function of lymph
• Relationship between blood and lymph
• Understanding homeostasis in body tissues
• Common diseases and disorders of the lymphatic system
• Differences between Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM)
• Contra-indications to treatment
• Factors affecting lymphatic flow
• Identification of suitable client conditions
• Practical demonstration of lymphatic drainage techniques
• Correct pressure application
• Superficial lymph drainage pathways
• Treatment planning, review, and evaluation

*This training does not qualify therapists to work with clients who have had Lymphatic nodes removed for those with Chronic Lymphoedema, primary or secondary Lymphoedema, or Lymphoedema as a result of Cancer Treatment.

Learning Outcomes :

On completion of this course, learners will be able to:

• Explain the structure and function of the lymphatic system
• Identify key lymph nodes and drainage pathways
• Understand the relationship between blood and lymph circulation
• Recognise conditions suitable for lymphatic drainage massage
• Identify contraindications to treatment
• Demonstrate correct lymphatic drainage techniques and pressure
• Assess, plan, and evaluate a lymphatic drainage treatment programme

Certificate on completion :
Certificate in Lymphatic Drainage Massage.
