ITEC Beauty Therapy Course * Athlone *Skills Connect Course

A free training course made available through the Skills Connect Programme

Duration
The course is 1 practical day & 1 online session per week for 22 weeks.
10.00am – 2pm on zoom each Tuesday
10.00 am – 4pm Practical day on site every Wednesday
8 – 10 hours per week home study compulsory – this will be closely monitored through the use of the usage reporting systems available on Moodle – their LMS which is used for the duration of the course.

Tutor led for online learning and assignment completion with study and case studies.  Homework will be provided, corrected and monitored and is a compulsory component of the course.

4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th & 26th November 2025
6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 27th & 28th January 2026
3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th & 25th  February 2026
3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 18th & 25th March 2026
22 weeks
Exam will be requested for 25 March 2026

Location
Practical day is on site UNIT 8, Pearse Street, Athlone Co Westmeath

Any other relevant information learners should know :
90% attendance is required, should this not be completed it will be followed up immediately which may impact on payments through social welfare and the overall results that may be achieved upon completion of the course exams. This course is open to both male and female participants, and you may be required to work with individuals of all genders. We ask that you respect your tutor and fellow classmates, fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment. Any behavior that goes against this principle may result in removal from the course.

Requirements

• As all classes, theory, exams and classes are conducted in English, Delegates will require a good command and understanding of English.
• As this course is blended learning, delegates must have a laptop or access to a laptop as well as a good wifi connection for the zoom classes each week.
• A keen interest in working within a Beauty/Spa/Hotel environment
• A determination and dedication to attend each week as 90% attendance is required to complete the necessary hours needed.
• This programme includes an additional work placement of 10 days’ work experience in a salon or spa.

Materials
A basic skincare, manicure & pedicure kit, textbooks and uniform will be provided. The full selection of products will remain in the school. 

Course Overview:
Upon completion of this course and when combined with the work experience gained during the course, each delegate will be capable of working in a beauty salon, spa or hotel as a beauty / massage therapist,  starting in a junior position.

Learning Outcomes:

• Offer a full facial consultation, facial treatment, and facial massage
• Offer eye treatments to include lash and brow, shaping, waxing and tinting
• Offer a full body Massage treatment
• Offer both manicure & pedicure services
• Understand the health and safety measure required to work in safe and healthy work environment.
• Have an understanding of some of the mental health challenges that they may meet working with colleagues and with clients

Project Work & Exams:
Each of the practical modules requires case studies to be completed to display that practice and experience is being gained throughout the course

• (ITEC) Level 2 Certificate in Skin and Eye Treatments
• (ITEC) Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Massage
• (ITEC) Level 2 Certificate in Manicure and Pedicure Treatments
• ITEC) Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology
• (ITEC) Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Salon
• (ITEC) Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness
