Who is this course suitable for
This course is suitable for anyone working in the hair, beauty, barbering, makeup, nails or other vocational industries that wish to secure a job in the education sector (public or private)

Requirements

  • Learners must have 3 years commercial experience in their vocation – proof of qualifications will be required upon enrolment.
  • Learners should be competent in basic ICT skills and have a good level on English.
  • Access to computers or other electronic devices will be a requirement
  • Work placement in a teaching environment is required for a minimum of 100 hours over the duration of the course

Course Content

The course leads to ITEC internationally recognised qualifications in Education, Assessing , Training and Mental Health Awareness.
A practical based course , learners will learn how to organise, develop and deliver interactive and inclusive lessons and assessments for both theoretical and practical based topics. Learners will also gain an understanding of common mental health issues in order to promote more inclusive learning, understanding and empathy to students.

  • Inclusive teaching and learning approaches.
  • Evaluating own delivery practice.
  • Understanding how technology can enhance teaching and learning.
  • Types and methods of assessment.
  • Conducting and recording assessments in accordance with processes and requirements.
  • Evaluating own assessment practice.
  • Plan and complete a class or assessments based on the teaching training cycle.
  • How to motivate staff and students.
  • Learn about grow models, risk assessments, tutor logs and schemes of work.
  • Perform a micro-teach and receive an evaluation from your student
  • Understand the aims and philosophy of education and training in a specialist area
  • Understand the aims and structure of key qualification and learning programmes available to learning in a specialist area
  • Understand principles of inclusive teaching and learning and key curriculum issue in a
  • Understand how to use resources for inclusive teaching and learning in a specialist area
  • Be able to work with other within a specialist area to develop own practice
  • Be able to evaluate, improve and update own knowledge and skills in a specialist area
  • Understand various mental health issues and their potential effects in a learning environment.

Learning Outcomes 

Learners will be able to understand, conduct and prepare both in-person and online classes and assessments as well as developing inclusive resources promoting the universal design of learning. They will also gain an in-depth understanding of common mental health issues and how to be aware of how their learners may approach learning as a result. Learners will also gain invaluable teaching and assessing practice experience in a hands on environment.
