Requirements
You must be qualified in one of the following areas; beauty therapy/massage/holistic therapy/nail technician/tattoo artist/make-up artist, to attend this course.

Who should apply for this course?
Salon owners, Spa owners or therapists. Anyone who wishes to welcome those who have been through cancer into their salon. Anyone who wants to reduce any risk factors of carrying out their services on cancer survivors.

Course Overview
This course teaches beauty professionals how to administer their services safely on clients affected by cancer, either during treatment or while in remission. It also teaches how to deal with cancer on an emotional level within the salon environment.

Materials Required
Access to a computer and wifi for the online day only. A full manual and practical treatment kit will be provided by trainer.

Learning Outcomes
On completion the learner will be able to amend their services to suit the individual client; whether they are going through cancer treatment, are a survivor or are in remission. They will know how to:

  • communicate with medical teams should the need arise.
  • provide a safe space within the salon/spa.
  • understand on an emotional level.
  • treat those, both patients and their families with empathy and understanding.
  • recognise the warning signs of skin cancer and how and when to refer to a doctor. (Note: we NEVER diagnose only refer).

Project Work/Exams
There will be case studies carried out in groups on the class days.
An open book assessment is carried out after the course in the learner’s own time. You have 14 days to complete and return this to the trainer.
