Working in television hair can seem like a closed world to many stylists. In this session, Carolann McGuirk offers a real-world insight into what it takes to move from the salon floor to the television studio.

Drawing on her experience working across live broadcasts and pre-recorded productions, Carolann will share the realities of television hair — from the pace and pressure of working on set to the level of skill, organisation and professionalism required behind the scenes.

What you’ll walk away with:

Attendees will gain an understanding of how television hair differs from salon work, the practical pathways into the industry, and the key qualities production teams look for when hiring stylists.

The session will conclude with an open Q&A, offering honest advice for anyone curious about building a career in television hair.

You will need:

Upstying kit (tools you usually use when upstyling).

Mannequin heads will be provided.

About the trainer:

Carolann McGuirk is an award-winning, world champion hairdresser celebrated for her influential work in television and film.
