It’s very difficult for any small business owner to work on the floor, in their business, and also work on the financial side of their business. It requires two different skill sets that many people may not possess when they open their business. Image Skillnet have recognised the need of salon owners to understand their business finances. And so we have enlisted the services of Marion Kane, a Chartered Accountant who is also a fully qualified Make-up Artist. Marion is passionate about supporting small businesses, and she has a solid understanding of the issues faced by salon owners today. For us, Marion has created a webinar series that is suited to anyone who is starting their own hair & beauty business, and also anyone who already has an established business and wants to understand their business finances.
The purpose of the Figuring Out Your Finances programme is to inform the basics of finances for the salon owner, and to demonstrate how financial information can be used to facilitate effective planning and decision-making.
This course will run over 5 sessions. There are four, 2-hour webinars, along with a follow-up session a few weeks later. The course will cover;
- Introduction to finance for the salon owner
- Structure of your business
- Budget – uses and how to prepare using Excel
- Pricing considerations
- Cash management
- Support available
- Overview of systems
- Overview of compliance and taxes for salon owner
- Business owner considerations as an individual
- Goal setting and KPIs
On completion of the webinar series, participants will have:
- An increased understanding of their business’s finances.

- An increased confidence in making business decisions.
