Course overview:
This one-day intensive training programme is designed for hair professionals looking to build confidence and competence in cutting and styling Afro-textured hair. The course combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills, focusing on understanding hair characteristics, mastering foundational cutting techniques for afro textured hair and creating versatile, textured curly/coily styles. A model will be provided to all participants on the day.

1. Introduction (30 minutes)

• Cultural and social context of Afro-textured hair in professional settings
2. Theory Session (1.5 hours)
• Hair Science: Structure, porosity and density
• Product Knowledge: Choosing the right products for hydration, hold and protection
• Cutting Principles: Elevation, tension and sectioning techniques for textured hair
3. Practical Demonstration (2 hours)
Cutting Techniques:
• Precision cutting for shape and volume
• Layering and shaping to enhance curl patterns
Styling Techniques:
• Braid out
• Twist out
• Curl definition: Techniques for defining and holding natural curls
• Bonus: Men’s hair definition
4. Hands-On Workshop (2 hours)
• Participants practice cutting and styling techniques under supervision
