Models will be required for the session. Aishling will also advertise for models; however, if participants have someone in mind, you are welcome to bring your own model on the day. If you are unable to arrange a model, you should let us know in advance of the course.
Who Is This Course Suitable For?
This course is designed for qualified hairdressers who want to expand their knowledge and skills in cutting and styling curly and textured hair.
Junior stylists may also attend if they will be taking part in the cutting session.
Participants are asked to bring their kit bag with scissors and essential tools, as well as a hairdryer with diffuser attachment if available. If you have a preferred model you’d like to work with that’s no problem, just let us know in advance that you will be bringing someone.
Course Overview
This one-day Look & Learn and Hands-On training explores the science, structure, and styling of curly and textured hair. Led by expert educator Aishling Moriarty, the course offers an in-depth look at hydration, frizz control, and curl enhancement — combining theory, live demonstrations, and practical learning.
Stylists will learn how to tailor cutting and styling approaches for various curl types, using techniques that celebrate and enhance natural texture. With a focus on inclusivity and product knowledge, this course equips participants to deliver professional, confidence-boosting results for every client.
Course Content
The morning session begins with an introduction to curly hair types and textures, covering the science behind curls, product knowledge, and the principles of hydration and frizz control.
Participants will then observe demonstrations in cutting and layering, exploring both wet and dry cutting techniques depending on curl type. The session continues with detailed looks at styling and curl definition, including diffusing, air drying, and advanced pattern enhancement using professional products.
In the afternoon, stylists will put their learning into practice with hands-on model work under expert guidance. The day concludes with a Q&A session and group review, ensuring participants leave feeling confident and inspired to apply their new skills in the salon.

About The Trainer
Aishling Moriarty is an award-winning stylist and educator with over 20 years of professional experience. Aishling has built her reputation as an expert in hair coloring and a passionate educator. In recent years she has dedicated her focus to hair textures, with a particular love for curly hair. Through her textured academy she shares her wealth of knowledge with both clients and stylists, combining technical skill with a deep understanding of texture. Her mission is to empower others to embrace and celebrate their natural hair while equipping stylists with the confidence and skills do to the same.
