Who Is This Course Suitable For?
This course is for stylists who are looking to up their skills with curly/textured hair. You must have a basic level of cutting knowledge to attend.

Course Overview
This one-day look & learn course will teach you the skills and techniques that are needed when cutting and styling naturally curly and/or textured hair. The training will help stylists achieve greater confidence in offering a more diverse approach to all hair textures. This Look & Learn will be very visual and informative. 

Course Content
The morning will begin with;

• Theory on curly/textured hair
• The language we use with our clients
• How we approach our consultations
• Demonstrations of a cut and styling

Laura will work on 4 models, each with a different curl type . In the afternoon you will then have the opportunity to work alongside Laura.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the characteristics and needs of curly and textured hair types, including how they differ from straight or wavy hair in structure and behaviour.
• Use appropriate language and terminology when communicating with clients about their hair type, style goals, and maintenance needs.
• Conduct effective consultations with clients who have curly or textured hair, ensuring a client-centred approach that supports inclusivity and trust.
• Recognise different curl types and select suitable cutting and styling techniques to enhance natural curl patterns.
• Observe and analyse live demonstrations of cutting and styling curly/textured hair across various curl types.
• Gain hands-on experience under expert guidance, building confidence in applying techniques for real salon scenarios.
• Implement diverse and inclusive hairdressing practices to better serve a broader client base and meet evolving industry standards.

About The Trainer
Laura Murphy is the owner of The Hair Space in Galway city. Laura trained with London curl expert Lindsey Hughes. She has trained in and understands many different methods, and she has developed her own salon-friendly tips and tricks for salon-friendly times.  Laura’s goal is for more salons to become more inclusive and not shy away from natural texture.
‘Not every salon needs a curly expert, but I want every salon to have the fundamentals of curly and coily hair, so that our industry becomes more inclusive’.
