🟣 INTRODUCTION:

One in three women in Ireland have been abused by a current or former partner.
This shocking statistic from EU research highlights the critical importance of awareness and support in every corner of our communities – including salons, spas, and beauty clinics.

That’s why Image Skillnet, The IHF & ISA have partnered with Women’s Aid to support professionals in the hair, beauty, and spa industry across Ireland in recognising the signs of domestic violence and abuse, and responding with empathy and practical support.

🧡 WHY THIS MATTERS

Every day, professionals in the hair, beauty, and spa sector offer far more than just treatments – they offer a safe space. Clients often build trust with their therapists or stylists, which makes this industry uniquely positioned to notice and respond to subtle signs of abuse.

This partnership will equip you with:

  • Knowledge of the signs of abuse (including coercive control)

  • Guidance on what to say – and what not to say

  • Resources to help signpost clients or colleagues to specialist support services
